His responsibilities include also strategic marketing and IR & PR & GR activities.Previously he held the positions of Head of Business Development, Head of Raw Materials (coal, iron ore, copper) – Vice-president at EvrazHolding from 1999 to 2005. Prior to that Mr. Andreev held various positions in the federal  government (at the Supreme Soviet and in the President Administration).Mr. Andreev graduated from State University of Management and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Dr Mike Armitage

Dr Mike Armitage is the Chairman and a Principal Mining Geologist of SRK (UK) Ltd with twenty years experience in the
industry.Prior to joining SRK he worked on gold mines in South Africa and also completed a PhD at Renco Gold Mine in Zimbabwe. At SRK he is responsible for managing feasibility studies and stock exchange competent persons reports on behalf of mining companies and also audits and due diligence studies on behalf of investment institutions or in support of mergers and acquisitions.He has written several papers on resource and reserve estimation methodology and classification and was until recently the joint course co‐ordinator of an MSc in Mineral Resources at Cardiff University. He also has a significant amount of experience in Russia and the Former Soviet Union having managed the preparation of several due diligence studies and competent persons reports on behalf of companies with projects in these countries and also investment institutions seeking to finance projects in these countries.

Dr Sacha Backes

Dr. Sacha Backes works for the International Finance Corporation, which is the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, mandated to provide financing and support to companies investing in emerging markets. Based in its London office, Sacha is responsible for new business origination for the Department of Oil, Gas, Mining and Chemicals, given London’’s focal point for oil, gas and mining companies, as well as developing and maintaining industry networks, including banks, private equity groups and hedge funds. Prior to joining IFC, Sacha worked in the international development field, where he launched and managed two large rural infrastructure development projects in remote areas of the Lao PDR from 1999 – 2006. Sacha has a PhD in laser physics from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from INSEAD.

Chris Broadbent

Chris is an Extractive Metallurgist and Environmental Scientist with over 15 years of providing consultancy services to minerals companies throughout the World. Prior to that he had over 15 years industrial and academic research including working for RTZ, Bristol UK and Shell/Billiton Research in the Netherlands. He has retained links with academia and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Birmingham University where he delivers a short course entitled “ESIA requirements of Mining Projects” to final year Earth Science students. Chris has managed multi-disciplinary project teams and has considerable experience of working in the former Soviet Union. He is currently a director of the Firm and manages mining related projects from the London Office of Wardell Armstrong.

Dr Ilya Brodsky

Prior to joining SPRING, Dr. Ilya Brodsky was a secretary of the Russian Science Support Foundation, which is the largest private science charity foundation in Russia. In 2002, he graduated from the American Institute of Business and Economics (MBA program). He holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from P.L. Kapitza Institute for Physical Problems and an MSc with honours in Condensed Matter Physics from Moscow Engineering Physics Institute.

Jason Burkitt

Jason Burkitt is the UK Mining Leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.  Jason qualified as a chartered accountant in Australia with PricewaterhouseCoopers Melbourne and has been responsible for providing services to numerous mining organisations since transferring to London in 1999.

With over 15 years experience, Jason has led numerous audits and transaction for international mining groups and has been heavily involved with assisting mining companies from Russia and the CIS list on the London Stock Exchange.  Jason specialises in helping these companies prepare for listings and advises them on their continuing reporting and risk management obligations.

Jason is the Chairman of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Mining Industry IFRS Experts Group.

Dr Alla Dolgopolova

Dr. Alla Dolgopolova is a researcher at the Natural History Museum (NHM). She graduated from the Kazakh National Technical University (Almaty), BSc in Geology (1996) followed by MSc (1998) from University of Strathclyde (Glasgow). After working for Soros Foundation in Central Asia, Alla joined NHM in 2001 as a PhD student. Her PhD thesis (Imperial College, 2005) focused on geochemical studies of element dispersal during mining and ore processing. Alla commenced in 2005 her full-time employment in NHM’s Mineralogy Department where she works as a Deputy Head of the Centre for Russian and Central EurAsian Mineral Studies (CERCAMS) on projects related to mineral deposit studies. She is involved in consultancy projects in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and Russia. Since 2006 she is responsible as project manager for a major mining consultancy project on “Metallogeny of Altaids” where her research focus has been on isotope mapping as tool in exploration targeting.

Mr Jon Edwards

Jon Edwards is responsible for developing the London Stock Exchange’s business in Russia and the CIS. Mr. Edwards has been working to promote both Main Market and AIM to Russian and CIS companies and advisors.One aspect of his work is facilitating communication between the City investment community and the CIS countries. Mr. Edwards is a frequent traveller to Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine and has also organized conferences in London to promote CIS companies to the investor community in the UK.Mr. Edwards studied at Columbia University where he received his BA degree in Russian studies and joint JD/MBA degree in business and law.He joined the London Stock Exchange in August 2003, before which he worked on private equity transactions for Incepta Ventures UK Limited, Delta Capital and BNP-Invest. Mr. Edwards has more than ten years of experience working with CIS companies in the natural resources, consumer products, real estate and TMT sectors.

In 2007  Sergey Garichev was appointed  a Director of Ermakovsky Mining & Metallurgical Plant (Russia, The Republic of Buryatia).
From 2008 – Deputy General Director, Strategic Development of MBC Corporation. Provides technical guidance and management in engineering and construction of Ozerny Mining & Processing Plant (Russia, the Republic of Buryatia) and other projects.

Mr Aaron Goldstein

Mr. Goldstein is based in London within the International Listings, at NYSE Euronext. He is responsible for developing NYSE Euronext’s business in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and CIS. The International Listings team helps potential listed companies and their advisers to make an informed decision on NYSE Euronext and makes introductions to the American and European based community of investors in order to facilitate an effective listing process. Mr. Goldstein worked in London as an investment banker with several financial institutions concentrating primarily on Russia and CIS. Mr.
Goldstein has also practiced securities law and international finance law in New York and London.

Mr Peter Hambro

Mr Chris Hinde

Chris qualified as a Mining Engineer (with a BSc and PhD) from the University of Wales, Cardiff. He joined Anglo American Corp in South Africa, and worked for a few years at its Western Deep Levels gold mine. He subsequently worked for two consultancy companies (in South Africa with Johannesburg-based SRK, and in the UK with Maidenhead-based Golder Associates). Projects undertaken included work on a diamond mine in Botswana, and lengthy overseas assignments in Malaysia and Turkey.Chris joined the editorial staff of Mining Journal in 1984, leaving 30 months later to join the stockbroking subsidiary of Schroder Merchant Bank as a mining analyst. He rejoined the Mining Journal team at the end of 1987, and was later appointed Editorial Director of Mining Journal Ltd (subsequently renamed Mining Communications Ltd, and now Aspermont UK).

Chief Operating Officer of Highland Gold Mining Brent Horochuk has graduated from the Haileybury School of Mines in Canada and the Michigan Technological University with a degree in mining engineering and started professional work as an underground miner at the Sherritt Gordon Mines in Canada. He has held management posts at various mining operations in Canada, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Guinea employed by Noranda Minerals, Falconbridge and Ashanti Goldfields. Before joining Highland Gold Mining Brent was the managing director of the Geita gold mine in Tanzania (Anglogold Ashanti).

Over the last 13 years in ECM, Aukse has worked on over 300 transactions globally, having spent 6 years in London, 4 in New York and half a year in Hong Kong.  She has worked on a number of Russian IPOs on the execution side and has been focusing on CIS origination over the last 12 months, notable Rusal’s IPO which was the first listing of a Russian company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Aukse Jurkute is originally from Lithuania.  She graduated from Macalester College with a BA degree in Economics, Mathematics, and Eastern European and Russian Area Studies.

Charles Kernot has over 20 years experience as a mining analyst in London. He has written four books on the mining sector and, over his career to date, has visited, researched and analysed companies producing just about every mined commodity on a worldwide basis. He first became interested in Russia and the CIS while at Paribas in the mid 1990s and has travelled extensively across the region from Pevek, Chukotka to Starry Oskol, Belgorodskaya Oblast. Dr Phil Newall

Phil is a Mining Geologist with over 25 years experience of providing consultancy services to minerals companies throughout the world, with particular specialisation in CIS, Europe, Central and West Africa, and China. He has developed an extensive portfolio of exploration and mining-related contracts, from project management through to technical audits of a large variety of metalliferous and industrial mineral deposits. He began his career as an exploration geologist with the Robertson Group, working extensively on gold and base metal projects in North Africa, before moving on to pursue a PhD in exploration geochemistry. This was followed by a period as lecturer at Camborne School of Mines, in conjunction with an active role as a consulting geologist. From there, he moved on to his present position as Director with Wardell Armstrong International (formerly CSMA Consultants Limited).

Having graduated in chemical engineering from University College London, Mr Paliwal qualified as a chartered accountant. Subsequently in charge of the mining and metals transactions team for Ernst & Young UK, Mr Paliwal played a leading role in the initial public offerings of Xstrata and Kazakhmys, as well as a host of other transactions involving some of the world’s largest miners. Between 2005 and 2008, Mr Paliwal was deputy chief financial officer at Vedanta Resources plc, where he continued to focus on finance, strategy and transactions. Mr Paliwal left Vedanta in late 2008 to set up Jiva as a private-equity firm focused on project development opportunities in the junior mining sector.

Sergei Voloboev

Sergei Voloboev is a Director within the Emerging Market Economics Research group at Credit Suisse, where he is responsible for covering Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and several Middle Eastern countries. He joined the Firm in early 1995. In 1989-1991, he worked for the Middle East and North Africa Department of the then Soviet Foreign Ministry. He worked as an economist at the Russian Embassy in Iraq (through January 1991) and thereafter as desk officer for Saudi Arabia and Kuwait at the Foreign Ministry in Moscow. Sergei graduated with an Honours Diploma in International Economics from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), and holds a Master’s degree in International and Development Economics from Yale University. He was awarded the Edmund S. Muskie fellowship for graduate studies in the US.
